Tips to reduce this outcome: carefully handle and store all glass items avoiding rubbing together against other items; avoid beads falling on heavy surfaces, avoid direct contact with metal jaw pliers which may scrape treated surface, avoid contact with all alcohol based chemicals , including PH from perspiration due to acidity.
